Hairspray 2: White Lipstick -- Official Movie Title!

Hairspray director Adam Shankman spilled the beans about the sequel to New Line’s blockbuster movie-musical and just how Zac Efron and Brittany Snow fit into the big picture.

Hairspray 2: White Lipstick is the sequel’s official movie title, which was actually the original title for 1998′s Hairspray. Shankman dished to MTV on more of teen idol Zac, 21, and less of Brittany, 22. Here’s what he had to say:

On Link Larkin getting hooked on acid: “I think that’s probably part of the treatment that won’t get used. And in the treatment, [Efron's drug use] is an accident. That’s the kind of stuff where you’re like: ‘Yeah, I don’t know if that’s going to work.’”

On who will take the place of the Von Tussles, the villians of the movie: “There’ll be a change in villains. [John Waters' treatment] is ideas that we’re just going to pick and choose from, and we’ll see what happens with it. Probably [no Michelle Pfeiffer]. Not because we didn’t love her, but because we just thought different adversaries [would be necessary].”

On the Vietnam War backdrop: “No, it wasn’t Zac.”
