Daniel Radcliffe: Harry Potter Tour For Obama Girls

Daniel Radcliffe is extending a personal invitation for a Harry Potter set tour to new First children Malia and Sasha Obama.

The 19-year-old Harry Potter leading man talked with the Daily Beast to talk about America’s new president, new catch phrases and extend the personal invite. Check it:

His personal invitation to Malia and Sasha: “I’d like to take this opportunity to issue a public invitation to the Obamas that if their daughters would like a private tour of the Harry Potter set, I would be honored to be their personal tour guide.”

On President Barack Obama’s inauguration: “I feel privileged to be here for Obama’s inauguration. I am so proud and happy for this country. He is everything the rest of the world liked about America and now likes again. He is both Martin Luther King and JFK. He is a pioneer. He is a symbol of progress which is what we dig about this country. What you love about England is all the old buildings and such. The traditions. I love that, too. But this is what we want from you.”

On catch-phrases: “I do tend to go doubly British when I am away from home. I have picked up certain phrases while here in America that I plan to eradicate as soon as I get back home. ‘I know—right?’ That phrase and its little rhythm there is very American and not really used in England. I’ve started saying that and people are picking up on it when they come over.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I test shoots begin this week.

A friend of mine from London had mentioned to me that England was a big supporter of President Obama. I was surprised and happy to hear that when she told me.

This is great to hear Daniel say this about America and offering to give Malia and Sasha a personal tour. After all, President Obama had read all the HP books to the girls…that would be lovely…I hope they’ll be able to take the opportunity to take the tour.

It’s good to hear a European’s viewpoint on American politics/society. Yet another reason why I love HP and Daniel Radcliffe. Can’t wait until July!

God I am so sick of this, Obama is the President, he needs to do his job, his daughters need to go to school. He needs to quit hanging out with a bunch od celebs because it’s making him look ignorant. Oh, and Daniel, MLK was a REPUBLICAN.

  • Lisa

Ok.. Ava.. nothing was said about President Obama hanging out with celebrities. If you haven’t realized many of the celebs have endorsed Obama, he doesn’t go partying/clubbing with them. While you think he may not be doing his job, he is. It seems to me that you’re really the ignorant one, not him.

And I think it’s a very nice thing Daniel is doing, extending a personal invite to Sasha and Malia.

Many minorities were Republicans in the 60′s and for many years before that. It’s just after JFK many minorities switched to being Democrats. It doesn’t matter if anyone is a Republican or Democrat Ava, what matters is what they do. I’m so sick of this petty competition between Republicans and Democrats, no one cares.

  • julia

There is no ‘petty’ competition between Democrats and Republicans, it’s just a huge difference in beliefs on the world works and things should be handled. Daniel Radcliffe is crazy hott, though! I kind of agree though, just like a seperation of church and state, there should be a seperation of Hollywood and state. Oh, and they have done several concerts and party’s together (celebs and Obama.)

Maybe you need to read up on your history a little bit more instead of spouting facts without context.

The Republican and Democratic Parties were very different parties back in the day with very different platforms than now, just as the US isn’t the same country today that it was in the 1960′s. While Republicans today are viewed as the conservative party today, they were once considered to be an activist party, as they were established under an anti-slavery and modernization platform. However, as time went by, the civil rights movement became a platform of the Democratic Party instead and many minorities switched their party affiliation over time. Assuming that his activism takes priority over any of his other political views and comparing him to other activists today, MLK might not necessarily be a Republican today.

Either way, whether MLK was a Republican back in the 1950′s or not doesn’t mean much in the context of today’s conversation.

Sophia, #10, and that’s great….I’m just speaking from what my friend told me while I was on visit in London, it’s her view and it’s great to know and hear that all of Europe was in support of President Obama winning.

the obama girls are so lucky!!
    majorly jealous of them.

  • brie2009

I’m very jealous of Sasha and Malia (Pretty names btw). I wish I got a tour offer of the Harry Potter set. I could always just sneek into the HP set but then would need to get a plane ticket to fly to the UK (Since I live in SoCal).

But if the Obama’s ever need a babysitter Call Me! I got a very clean record, I have decent grades, and I love kids!!
