JustJaredJr.com is back with more of our exclusive interview with Victoria Justice!
We had the chance to talk to her about her new puppy Sophie, how she got started in the entertainment business and her celeb crushes! Check out what the 15-year-old Spectacular! starlet had to say:
JJJ: You have two new dogs, Sammy and Sophie. Were they a gift from your parents?
VJ: Yeah! Well, originally we were going to surprise my little sister, who’s 12, with a puppy because she really wanted one. I really wanted one too, but my parents were like, no, one is kind of enough, that’s a lot of responsibility, we’ll just get one for your sister and it will be the family dog. I agreed, but I was kind of bummed out about that. Then, a week before Christmas, I knew they were bringing the dog home for my sister. They came home and my sister and I went up to the kennel they were holding, and we were like, “Mom, there’s two dogs in the kennel! They made a mistake. They put two dogs in here!” Even after they told me that one was for me, for some reason I still thought it was an accident!
JJJ: Which one is yours, and why did you name it that?
VJ: I named my dog and my sister named hers. Mine is Sophie…and I don’t know! She just looked like a little Sophie! She has an attitude and is prissy and her butt wiggles when she walks…she’s just a little Sophie. And after I named her Sophie, everyone was like, ‘Oooh, did you copy Miley Cyrus by naming your dog Sophie?’ I thought I was being original, and then I find out Miley had named her dog Sophie, too. But Miley has good taste.

JJJ: In Spectacular!, what was your favorite scene to film?
VJ: Probably the finale number, “On the Wings of a Dream,” because the song was cool and because it was the finale. We all worked really really extra hard on that number. Simon [Curtis] gets to lift me twice in that one, so that was really fun for me, even though I don’t know if it was fun for him. He got close to dropping me a couple of times, but the main thing that kept happening was when the wings that were attached from my dress to my wrist would wrap around, and every time he tried to lift me up, it would get caught around his head! He would even start to choke! But it turned out pretty well.
JJJ: When you want to break it down and dance, do you have couple of songs that you like to get down to?
VJ: Well, me, Simon, Andrea [Lewis] and Avan [Jogia] made a YouTube video to Lady GaGa’s “Just Dance”, and of course we were just dancing in the video, so it was perfect. That’s one of my favorite songs to dance to right now, and Hot and Cold by Katy Perry. I love that song, it’s so much fun to bop around to and dance.
JJJ: Do you have any celebrity crushes?
VJ: Oh, this might take a long time. Jim Sturgess, Emile Hirsch, Johnny Depp, Leon Jackson from X-Factor, and James McAvoy.
JJJ: How did you get your start in the business? Were you always into performing?
VJ: I’ve always kind of been a performer. When I was little, I was the kid that made her entire family sit on the couch while I was dressed up and sang all my Barney songs. But I started modeling and doing commercials when I was 8 years old.
My very first commercial was for Ovaltine, and I was so excited when I got that job. I was on the verge of tears when they called me and said that I got it. I even remember my three lines perfectly! “It’s choclatey! Ovaltine’s amazing! More Ovaltine, please!” I felt like a star after I did that, even though the conditions were terrible – there was no trailer and it was really cold. I was just sitting outside with the rest of the kids huddling for warmth. But I couldn’t have been happier – I was ecstatic! Since then, I think I’ve done about 30 commercials, and then I told my mom that I really wanted to get into TV and movies because I really thought I could do it. She agreed, and when I was 11, we packed up and moved to Los Angeles! We just packed our suitcases – me, my mom, and my sister…my step-dad had to go back and forth between Florida and California because he had to work. Well, we only came for the summer because I wasn’t really expecting anything.
Everyone told me that there was no way I could make it because it was so hard in Hollywood, but I still wanted to try. So I did, and I ended up booking a few roles in some independent films, and then a guest role on the Suite Life of Zack and Cody. After that, my agent told me that there was a really big audition for Zoey 101 and that we should stay through the summer and see how it played out. I did, and I ended up getting the part of Lola on Zoey 101…and we’ve been in L.A. ever since!
JJJ: What was your favorite prop on the set of Zoey 101?
VJ: Well, on the set there were these golf carts that we used to ride around in… We weren’t allowed to drive ourselves around in the golf carts, but of course once we were told not to do that, we just HAD to get on them and drive around the set. We would sneak on those…that was a lot of fun.
JJJ: Do you still talk to your Zoey 101 co-stars, like Jamie-Lynn Spears and Alexa Nikolas?
VJ: Not so much those two, but Erin Sanders is still one of my very best friends. I absolutely love her – she’s crazy! Chris Massey, I’m still good friends with him. Matthew Underwood, I still talk to him occasionally, but he’s been busy lately. Jamie Lynn, I haven’t talked to recently. She’s been going through some things, but she’s a really nice girl, very down to earth, she’s just like a normal Southern girl from Louisiana. I remember on the set, we would all freak out when she would bring fried okra to eat. We loved that, for some reason. She’s really a normal girl, really sweet, and I wish her the best of luck in everything she does.
JJJ: Who is your favorite celebrity to look to for fashion?
VJ: Sienna Miller or Rachel Bilson.
JJJ: Where’s your favorite place to shop?
VJ: Urban Outfitters, I buy everything there. It’s dangerous for me to go into that store.
JJJ: Do you have a favorite candy?
VJ: Sour Warheads.
