Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Alyson Michalka, and Gaelan Connell, the rocking comedy flick is set to hit theaters on Friday, August 14th.
Movie summary: When gifted singer-songwriter Charlotte Banksasks (Michalka) asks new kid in town Will Burton (Connell) to manage her fledgling rock band, she appears to have just one goal in mind: go head-to-head against her egotistical musician ex-boyfriend, Ben (Scott Porter), at the biggest event of the year, a battle of the bands.
Against all odds, their band develops a sound all its own with a real shot at success in the contest. Meanwhile, romance brews between Will and Sa5m (Hudgens), who plays a mean guitar and has a voice to die for. When disaster strikes, it’s time for the band to make a choice: Do they admit defeat, or face the music and stand up for what they believe in?

@#1, kourtney. Bandslam is not expected to be a blockbuster hit. It is not expected to be big. It is Indie, low budget type of movie that is meant to be a fun entertaining family and teen movie to watch. Vanessa is not the lead star in this movie, she is playing a supporting role. Aly is the lead actress, and Gaelan is the lead actor for Bandslam. Aly and Gaelan will be the two that command the majority of the screen times than Vanessa. The film company is using Vanessa as a name carrier for promoting the movie, because she is well known to the public.

It is probably a fact that Zac will WANT to be there to support Vanessa and will be there for the premiere IF he can. Given the fact that he has a movie tat will be starting to film anywhere from the end of July to the middle of August in Vancouver, Canada, we cannot be sure what he will be able to physically do. It may not be his fault if he cannot be there.
PLUS, this will be Vanessa’s movie premiere—a movie that she is not the lead in, btw—so it is not suppose to be a “Zanessa” premiere. Just like Vanessa did everything she could not to make his premiere of 17 Again about her personally or them as a couple, I’m sure Zac will show just as much respect for her as well as for Aly and Gaelan. These three are the ones who put the work into this project and they are the ones who should get the most attention!

I’m excited for this movie… it looks funny, and even if it doesn’t do that well, at least V is already furthering her acting career. That’s good. Zac might go, he might not, it depends on his film schedule. It is coming out right around when he should be going to Canada.
The soundtracks looks interesting enough… I prob. won’t buy it, but I’ll look up the songs.
I want some pix from Montreal, just to see how the movie is going. I’m excited for that, too. Can’t wait to see all of V’s projects. Zac’s, too, but I realize this is a V thread not a ‘zanessa’ thread or whatever.

bandslam is NOT an indie movie. it is being distributed by summit entertainment. if it were an indie film, they would be looking for a distributor.
btw, wonder if david bowie will be doing any promoting since some of his music is in the movie and he does a cameo appearance. wonder if he and his wife will be at the premiere.
i think older fans who are writer/director todd graff’s age will see the movie for the music.
Oh I can’t wait to hear Aly’s bands version of I Want You To Want Me. That song is good already, I hope theirs turned out just as good. Looks like a good tracklist, sweet.

Summit is an indie studio so in that sense yes it is.
Regardless it’s still pretty low budget and like fan said isn’t expected to be and doesn’t need to be a huge blockbuster hit. I hope Bowie does do a little promotion for his music in the movie.
