OlderSelena Gomez Covers Selena Quintanilla
Selena Gomez gets into the groove as she belts out “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,” one of Selena Quintanilla‘s biggest hits during her concert on Sunday night (February 7) at the San Antonio Rodeo.
The 17-year-old actress, wearing an Armani Exchange black sequined vest, who was named after the slain Latina popstar has once said, “My dad and family loved her. So when my mother got pregnant with me, he wanted to name me Selena, after her. As I got older and could understand why I was named after her, I went to go visit her grave and where she used to perform.”
And yes, Selena‘s rumored boyfriend Nick Jonas was in the audience supporting her. Check out the vid below!

@anon: I actually think she did a pretty good job. Yeah, the part where she spoke Spanish was way better than when she sang it, but remember that Selena Quintanilla’s Spanish wasn’t that great at first either. I’m sure Sel’s going to keep working on it and undoubtedly get better.
The only thing I felt was missing was the more cumbia type dancing that Selena used to do during this song, like in Baila Esta Cumbia. It takes some of the fun out of it. Otherwise I loved it. =]

I know she’s busy milking every dollar out of her Disney presence but you’d think she could make time for voice lessons…..and the presentation….Selena Q would be horrified by the comparism. Dance lessons clearly didn’t help much in Cinderalla Story so I don’t think there’s much hope here.
I like Selena. She’s a decent actress, but how about doing one thing well and don’t just milk it – it’s so tacky but seems to be the Disney trend (jenette a country singer???, emily a rocker??ha ha). Enough! No wonder Disney has lost so much ground to Nick. Nick may have it right with two great singers on the new Victorious – Liz & Ariana. It’s about time.
