    I’m proud of you vanessa

  • kami

i think it was in 2008 that zac won for “breakout star.”

but any award from showest is prestigious.

  • annasaurus

Terrible. For every Hilary Swank, there’s a Tia Carerra. I think this is a dud pick for both male/female.

  • annasaurus

Actually, this is more like when Shannon Elizabeth/Heather Graham won, or when Josh Hartnett won. Where are they now?

  • Katty

Actually, Heather Graham has done quite well, so has Josh Hartnett, they’ve just chosen paths that won’t take their sanities away, like Brad Pitt, or Jennifer Aniston. The fact that I know all of the actors you named, is a good thing.

I’m not sure if this is what you are insinuating, but I don’t think this award is cursed or anything. That’s not what life is about, it’s about the choices you make, and V has made great movie choices so far.

  • peggy

You dont really want me to start naming all the stars who began superstars who won Showest do you.

How stupid do you want to look

  • London Lemming

Zac has won twice at Sho-west.

Congratulations to Alex and Vanessa on their awards.

  • Trina

Shia LaBeouf won “Star of Tomorrow” back in 2007, and he has a pretty good career. And true, the award does not set your future in stone. It’s all about the choices you make and the roles you choose. And, Vanessa has made good choices with all the movies she’s done since HSM.

  • xoxo

Happy for them both, dont know that much about him, but good for them!!!

  • peggy

SJennifer Hudson won breakout star andwent on from there and Chis Pine isn’t suffereing either

  • zanessa/scashley/ashnessa

    Outstanding indeed. :D

  • annasaurus

@peggy: Oh, Showest has been right on for some of the stars they’ve picked, but there’s always a few clunkers, like this year’s pairing, last year’s pick of the lead cast of Sorority Row. They should have just picked all the girls of Vanessa’s next movie, Suckerpunch instead.

  • annasaurus

@peggy: And if you read my 1st post, I compared this to some of Showest’s past missteps like Tia Carerre, Shannon Elizabeth and Heather Graham. They’ve pretty much gone nowhere after their initial time in the spotlight. And no, Heather Graham’s latest role as the stripper in the Hangover is a step down.

  • liz

Man they hand those out to anyone huh?

  • carly

aw so happy =D they deserve it

  • Katty

I agree with you on the cast of SuckerPunch being chosen.

In every award show, some clunkers are chosen that no one agrees with, I just don’t think this is one of them. At least, not in V’s case, I haven’t seen enough of Alex to know.

  • annasaurus

You know who they should have given this award to? Sam Worthington and Carey Mulligan. I bet CBS Films paid them for this. Les Moonves has too much money.

  • Lexy

    Congratulations Alex and Vanessa!!!!!

  • em

I think some people here are getting a little negative, this is a presitigous award. So please don’t try to denounce it. I just looked it up and
Actually Hilary Swank, Jennifer Garner, Naomi Watts, Heath Ledger, Ryan Gosling, Matt Damon, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Biel, Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman and Johnny Depp all have won that exact “male/female star of tomorrow” award in showest at one point or another. So… she isn’t in bad company. And Vanessa is pretty young to even recieve it. Even Johnny Depp or Hilary Swank weren’t 21 when they got it. And at that time no one thought a young Brad Pitt for instance would go anywhere and look at him now. So yes actually that award is saying alot. Showest aren’t idiots, they just don’t give this to any two random people.
I say congragulations to the two of them. And please just because you don’t think Vanessa is good for whatever reason, which you are entitlted to believe (not that i need to tell you) don’t make it seem like this isn’t an honor or a big deal. It is. And the way i see it weather we like it or not, she has talent and just the few people she’s worked with already can tell you that the girl is going places.

  • annasaurus

And don’t tell me they’re too old because Naomi Watts was 33 when she got hers.

  • heather

aw congrats to both of them

  • Kelly

Vanessa and Alex does NOT have a nice ring to it. Zac and Vanessa sounds waaayyy better! Lol I love zanessa!! Go V!

  • Masbonita

This is great news!!! Can’t wait to see pictures of them, that way I can feel the premiere of Beastly is almost here. I adore Nessa and LOVE MY FUTURE HUSBAND ALEX!

  • daniel

    really¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡that’s cool and amazing
vanessa and alex deserve it they’re definetly stars of tomorrow

  • go sox

@annasaurus: You are sounding a bit like sour grapes, dear. The ShoWest directors must see something in Vanessa YOU obviously have a hard time grasping. And they must have obviously seen a great deal in their performances in “Beastly”, as they chose to honor both her AND Alex. Before your panties get all twisted, they do honor others as well. I think this is a huge step for Vanessa, and she’s making good choices for her career. I’m just sick of people like you, not giving a promising young actress a chance to prove what she can do and basing her whole career on a few early movies. Shame on you.

  • ZANE

wow!!!! that is so great!! Congrats!

  • Karen

So happy for Alex and Vanessa. I think they go beyond the teen flick. Alex proved himself in Tormented and Vanesa in SP- but I have not seen it but it is no ” Stretch Armstrong”
