OlderDisney Wants to Dance with 'Prom'
After the success of the High School Musical franchise, Disney is looking to head back to high school with Prom.
Variety reports that the comedy will revolve around a group of teens prepping for the big dance. Disney is also looking to cast nine unknowns into the lead roles — just like the original Wildcats were when HSM started off.
Prom isn’t expected to be a musical and Disney is keeping all the options open until they see a script from screenwriter Katie Wech.

how do you audition?
Disney is going to keep trying to remake the success of High School Musical.
They tried with Camp Rock, using the Jonas Brothers, and they’re trying to keep it alive with the HSM4 ridiculousness.
But they will NEVER be able to do it.
It’s time to let go, Disney. HSM was a great thing, and it can’t be recreated.

well for me it sounds like HSM 3…. why they can’t get over the success of HSM! and try to do new things!!!!
i think there won’t be another like HSM…i hate when Disney tries so hard, they shouldn’t make so similar movies…HSM3 was all about prom! Period.

I don´t know!!! HSM is my love, my crazy, I am bigger fan of HSM!!!! HSM 4ever!!! But, Prom will should be wonderful too, not like HSM, but, Great!!!! :)
yeah it might be pointless but its also giving people a chance- 9 unknowns for the lead roles….its a great opportunity and loads of kids will end up watching it and loving it .

im so sad hearing it… this not only not going to be succesful but also will destroyed part of the sucess of HSM, disney PLEASE stop trying ! its not gonna work, even 4 year-old kid knous that.

You can’t CREATE a phenomenon! It just HAPPENS Disney!!! Ugh they irritate me with their constant need to have another big thing like HSM, which is never going to happen. Ever!
Well i’m up for the idea aslong as they try something new with this story rather that HSM3 all over again I am particularly interested by the new cast its time their were some fresh faces on Disney and hey if their is a new Zac Efron round the corner why would I complain but I do hope the story has something different
why would they do this? HSM ended things with a very good note. they shouldn’t be trying to outdo it or make something like it. there can NEVER be something as amazing as High School Musical was. They really need to stop this…and the whole making of HSM4! That is just simply pointless…
But I wouldn’t mind auditioning for it. :D Could be a big break for some people.
Prom? hell no ¡¡ that’s ridiculous I think this is not going to be a big successful as hsm but a lot of people will be curious about it and they’re going to watch it.
and about the nine unknowns into the lead roles well give them the benefit of the doubt but they’re never gonna be like the original cast at least not 4 me
I hope it’s not like HSM or Camp Rock. If they do a film, I hope it’s just acting and obviously it will have to have dancing. I’d like to audition but I live in the UK, plus I’m doing very important exams so it will be virtually impossible to do it, unless the auditions are in July and they some how come to England x x x

This is annoying, high school musical was amazing. It is practically a legend. I hate the idea of them trying to make another movie just because High School Musical is over (Well, I consider it over, High School Musical 4 is NOT what I consider hsm).
However, as long as they are going to try to proceed with it, I might be interested in possibly auditioning. Does anyone have any information on where I can send a resume in?
