The Runaways star opens up about channeling Sandy West, her favorite movies and the mood on set. Check it:

On some of her favorite movies: “So many can’t just pick three! True Romance is one of them though.”

On how she booked the role of Sandy West: “I auditioned and I got a call back. After the callback, all these girls started sending in tapes, so I taped myself playing the drums. I hadn’t played in a bit because I’ve been living from apartment to apartment. It’s hard to play drums when you’re in an apartment. So I was going to studio spaces and practicing there. I sent them in the tape, and I guess they really responded well to it. I beat out 500 girls.”

On how she studied who Sandy was: “Joan and Cherie could tell me old stories about Sandy. I still spend a lot of time with Sandy’s best friend. I’m actually taking her as my date to the premiere. Sandy was kind of like the base of the band. Not only was she the drummer, she was the one that held everyone together. Her dream was this band.”
