Bringing a burst of color and energy to the purple carpet, Monique Coleman shows off her game day outfit as she arrives at Lollipop Theater Network’s 2nd Annual Game Day held at the Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank, Calif., on Sunday afternoon (May 2).
JJJ was lucky enough to catch up with Monique on both Sunday and Saturday (May 1) when she lent her time and wisdom to the 2010 Girl Prep Conference held at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel.
Monique opened up to us about working away on her upcoming book, “From Ramen Noodles to the Red Carpet”: “It’s all about nurturing the person behind the actor. I think a lot of times young people are seeing things happen to certain people immediately and it’s really not like that at all. It happens sometimes but most times, people get to where they are by really working hard and putting a lot of time, spirit and energy into what they do. My hope is that it helps to show you that it’s okay, no matter what.”
Mo continued, “Essentially what I’m doing, in the book, is giving you different exercises to look at and trying to be very proactive. Being an artist, it’s about inspiration, but it’s more about how you hone that inspiration, how you find it, what kind of people should you have in your life, what sort of things you should do in your down time, how can you survive when you’re broke…I’ve experienced that. There’s all these different things of an actor’s life that people don’t think about.”
