We recently caught up with the 16-year-old jazzy singer to chat about her new music video, “For Another Day,” her way of life and just when her next video is coming. Check it:
On the feel of her music video: “We wanted to create a setting that was just beautiful light and beautiful to look at. We didn’t want it to take attention away from the song but at the same tie we wanted to kinda tell a story through the song. The song talks about dreaming and where dreams take you so basically the whole idea of the music video is that I’m falling asleep and then I wake up. It looks like a normal day but really I’m in a dream but I don’t even know.
“All the strange things that happen like the guy of my dreams appears and then all of a sudden he disappears and I’m like, ‘Where did he go?’ Then he hands me a flower and I wake up and I actually have the flower in my hand. I look at it like, ‘How did I even get that? I didn’t go to bed with it?’ Tt’s kind of a love story to an extent but really everything kind of happens in a slow manner. It doesn’t take attention away from the song or anything so it’s very simple and I think it’s very beautifully done. I’m very happy with the way it came out.”
On more videos in the future: “For sure! I was actually about to ask on Twitter, my followers, what song they wanted to see a music video to cause I want to do another one. I just don’t know which one. I have an idea for ‘Cool My Heels’ and also ‘Never Make It One Time’ would be a fun one cause that one really tells a story and it’s very descriptive so it’d be fun to do a music video for that one too. I don’t know. I guess we’ll have to see but for sure I’d do another one.”
On what she would be doing if she wasn’t a singer: “[Still] Singing because to me, singing is not just a profession necessarily. It’s just a way of life. I can’t even explain it. Even if I was performing in restaurants I’d still be singing because it’s what I love and I can’t see myself doing anything else. This is why I know this is meant to be because I literally cannot see myself in anything other than music. So it’s just kind of a sense of destiny that I guess that I’ve always just had and that this is what I needed to be doing.”
