Zendaya: I Auditioned for CeCe Not Rocky!

Zendaya opens up about Shake It Up, co-star Bella Thorne, and her ties to Selena Gomez in a recent Q&A with J-14!

Here’s what the 14-year-old actress had to share:

On getting cast in Shake It Up: “The really cool part about my audition process was I originally came in for CeCe, and they asked me to read for Rocky. And I really felt Rocky. I had a connection with her character. And when I went with Bella it was like instant chemistry.”

On how she’s like Rocky: “She is a girly girl. But I like a little more edge to it. I like to take her style … And I like to add a little more of a tomboy flare to it.”

On her co-star Bella: “She loves shoes. Like she’ll like wear a different pair of shoes every day. She’s a shoe fanatic.”

On working with Selena once with a Sears commercial: “She was really sweet to me and really nice. And she was really helpful. I haven’t seen her since I have been on an actual Disney Channel show. But hopefully I will and hopefully she’ll remember me.”
