Alex Pettyfer Walked Out of 'I Am Number Four' Audition!

Alex Pettyfer wasn’t always enthused about his role in I Am Number Four, in fact — he walked out!

The 20-year-old actor told Vanity Fair magazine that he didn’t even make an effort at his audition. “When I went into the auditioning room, I didn’t even read. I said to them, ‘I really think I’m wrong for this part. I’m really sorry for wasting your time.’ And I walked out,” Alex confessed.

Lucky for us, director D.J. Caruso felt otherwise.

Alex added about the role of John, “It has this very Bourne-esque quality to it, with a spice of Rebel Without a Cause. It was very physical. I trained for two months before I started the movie.”

I Am Number Four hits theaters on February 18th!

  • Sarah

    @Sin:

    In interviews he is always very self-deprecating. Even in the story he’s telling here he has talked about how scared he was that he would “muck up” the movie. How is that arrogant?

    @Christopher:

    “When I went into the auditioning room, I didn’t even read.”
    That´s not being arrogant. It´s called being a douche. He should show some respect.

  • A

    @Sin: He thought he was wrong for the part because he didn’t think he was good enough to play the character, not because he thought he was too good for it.

  • Zach

    Probably should’ve walked out of the movie too.
