OlderJJJ's Pick for Peeta Mellark: Freddie Stroma!
We know the fan favorite for The Hunger Games‘ Peeta Mellark is Alex Pettyfer, but after meeting and chatting with Freddie Stroma, we think he’d be perfect for the role.
In the books by Suzanne Collins, Peeta is described as a stocky, 16-year-old tribute with ash blonde hair falling in waves over forehead with blue eyes.
Freddie, 24, told us on the A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song set last week, “I’ve read them and I would love to audition for it, but I think I may be a bit too old. If they offered it to me, I’d take it in a heartbeat. But, it all depends on who they get for Katniss too (points to Lucy Hale).”
Lucy added, “Yea, that’s some wishful thinking. But he’d be perfect for Peeta.”
WHAT DO YOU THINK — Did JJJ pick out a good Peeta, or no?

What is with everyone and wanting to cast 20 something year olds for all the roles in this movie? Find someone who ATLEAST LOOKS like a 16 year old. This guy doesn’t look like a teenager in anyway.
I agree that Callan McAuliffe would be good for the role. Atleast he is and looks 16.

PEETA IS SUPPOSED TO BE CHUBBY AND NOT VERY HOT, WHY ALEX IS TOTALLY HOT AND VERY SKINNY! ALEX IS JACE WAYLAND. THATS THE IDEAL ROLE FOR HIM. NOT PEETA FOR GOODNESS SAKE. JUST TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT HIM.
Alex Pettyfer is the fan favorite??….which fans?. I’m incredulous because from what I’ve read NO ONE wants him to play Peeta because he’s arrogant, bland and oh yeah, a lousy actor. Please God no to Prettyboyfer. A world of NO!.
Don’t know about Peeta. But I think Freddie’d be great for Jace if Alex doesn’t take it.

My dream cast would be Chelsea Kane for Katniss, Chord Overstreet for Peeta and Steven R McQueen for Gale!

Alex Pettyfer is who I invision as Petta. Then Taylor Kitsch for Gale. Last but in no way least is Kaya Scodelario as Katniss. These are who should be cast for “The Hunger Games”. Google them and see what you think.
Alex Pettyfer (Peeta), Kaya Scodelario (Katniss), Taylor Kitsch (Gale). These IMO should be the three main actors in “The Hunger Games”.
Even though Alex Pettyfer is who I invisioned while reading the book. He and Freddie Stroma have a badboy edge. Petta does not so in softening my view on Petta I believe that Jeremy Sumpter would be great for Petta. He has a more sweet and softer side than these other choices. Just Google “Jeremy Sumpter” and see what you think.

24 is NOT that old, people. he looks young enough to be peeta (younger than alex pettyfer, anyway). personally i don’t like any of the casting ideas they’ve got going right now.
p.s. @ danielle, peeta is NOT supposed to be chubby, either. he was chubby when they were like 6 years old, but he’s supposed to be attractive now. it sucks for you that you’ve been picturing him wrong.

No Pettyfer please..!!!!! Since when did he become fan’s fav for playing Peeta? He’s way too arrogant, face to angular, too thin, too edgy, too cocky. No, he is not Peeta. But, maybe he can play Finnick in the second and third book.
