Vanessa Hudgens is profiled in a new Actor’s Craft article from the L.A. Times.
The 22-year-old actress opens up about her love for the art, standing up for yourself and getting past her past. Check it:
On picking her future roles: “After High School Musical, I was not looking for another musical. I was just kind of looking for a different character or an interesting director to work with. Things have fallen into place in a beautiful way. I can’t say it was planned out step by step. It’s just the way the world works. At the end of the day, my mom helps me. Of course, I have my agents and my manager who put in their two cents. But if I don’t like something, I’m not gonna do it.”
On her relationship with Zac Efron: “It was interesting, but we got to a point where it was just like, we just can’t pay attention, because one week we’d be married and then the next week we’d be broken up and the next week I would have a baby. It was just the most obscene things.”
On reliving her 2007 picture scandal again and again: “It’s just silly because I’m a very present person, and that’s the thing that has been so in the past. The fact that somebody keeps bringing up the past is just selfish. I mean, it sucks. I already released a statement the first time it happened. It’s just unfortunate that it keeps reminding people about the past and not the present.”
On keeping her head up: “You really have to stay strong, because times get tough. Especially in this business. It’s a dog-eat-dog world. There’s so many amazing actresses who got taken advantage of. Someone like Natalie Wood, one of my idols — who knows what happened to her? She was on a boat that was mysteriously in the water, and now she’s dead. A lot of women get walked all over on by not standing up for themselves, and that’s just not what I’m about. I’m figuring myself out now as a young adult more than I ever have. It’s like my eyes are opening and I’m awakening to controlling my future.”

Wow she looks really stunning in that photo. And you know the way she answers and the stuff she said it sounds exactly like me I’ve been noticing the disadvantages of the actresses and about the pics I say that all the time yet I’m not famous my voice isn’t big enough to be heard I’m glad Vanessa is speaking out what needs to be heard. She really is a role model for women just because failure happened but she still gets back up I’ve heard a sang, “you need failure to succeed.” Handling failure makes you a success not always succeeding nothing do wrong many people find that to be success will not entirely true. Just because someone had flaws before doesn’t automically mean awful person and just because some do no wrong, perfect all the time doesn’t always mean they are—-just have great luck.

I love her….so much…..so so so so much…. There’s nothing that she can’t say or do that will make me not love her….she’s amazing and I Love her soo much she’s one of the few people in Hollywood that has their head on their shoulders and you know that her future will be bright :) always too :)
I just lovvvvvvvvve that vanessa is sooo strong inspite of the evil person and rough thing that keeps coming up at her from the past.in addition,she is such a grounded,positive,beautiful person inside and out,keeps her head high,smart,and level-headed person,and confident,and she is not letting it keep her down,and she defends hersel when being takin advantage of,and honest.On the other hand,she is right this is a dog-eat-dog world and it is definately a cruel one.Vengeance is mine says the lord and he repay the person who keeps doing this.Finally,I love vanessa soooo much and I know she will go far in her career and she will come she will have longevity,and we thank God and Jesus for vanessa.Love you vanessa!!!!!!:)

One of the things I love best about her, is her honesty and that she is just such a genuine person. What you see, is what you get with Vanessa. She never pretends to be someone she is not. She will never get sucked into the seediness of Hollywood- she is a beautiful spirit, and is strong and brave. I challenge anyone to get through some of the things she’s had to endure, from the pure hatred of Zac Efron fans for years, to the photo leaks, not once, but 3 times. The fact that she remains such a positive person is truly an inspiration.
