Jordin Sparks captures our attention in a bright orange dress as she arrives at KIIS FM’s 2011 Wango Tango Concert at Staples Center on Saturday (May 14) in Los Angeles.
JJJ got a chance to chat with the 21-year-old singer on the carpet and she revealed how she felt being back on the Idol stage, her upcoming album and her brand-new single, “I Am Woman.” Check it:
On being back on the Idol stage: “It’s good! I’ve been rehearsing for the past month and a half and I heard the intro that we played for everyone of me winning and it didn’t hit me until I was on stage. I cannot believe that it all started here and here we are doing the third cycle of my music and I’m coming back out. Idol and the national anthem makes me very shakey but it was so much fun to be back there.”
On working on her new album: “There’s a song that’s more dance influenced with a club sound, like a club/house vibe. Then there’s a song that’s just a ballad with my vocals over a piano that I worked on with John Legend called ‘Hands.’ We worked on it earlier this year and it’s a beautiful ballad. I’m not sure yet but we might be putting strings on it. It goes ‘My hand in your hand, holding on forever, keeping each other close.’ It’s really really sweet but haunting at the same time.”
On her new single, “I Am Woman”: “When Ryan Tedder brought it to me, my mouth dropped to the floor and I was so excited about it. Me and him are both perfectionist so we had seven different mixes of the song before we got to the final version that is out now. We got it perfect and I’m really excited about it.”
