Bradley Steven Perry sits with his on-screen canine costar in this new still from Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure.

The 12-year-old actor recently chatted with JJJ about the flick, and when he wasn’t stumped by our questions, dished about his favorite scenes, working with Ashley Tisdale and more. Check it:

On his character: “I play Roger Elliston the 3rd. He’s very classy and absolutely loves his dog, Countess. Countess is going out for a Broadway musical and it’s there he meets Sharpay and Boi. There’s a very friendly competition that turns out to be more competitive than it seems.”

On getting to sing on stage: “I was actually sick the day they recorded the song, so it’s not actually me singing. I hope though, if I get to do another musical, I get to sing more.”

On working with Ashley: “Ashley is awesome. She’s very friendly and nice and always wanted to do something outside of the set. It was really great because one of my sisters, who wears a lot of pink, she came along to set and got along with Ashley too. It was great to have those two become friends.”

On the 5AM workout sessions: “I was always the last one down there because I’m not a morning person at all. They would get up at 5 a.m. I would get down there as soon as I could but I was barely awake. I would be exercising half asleep (laughs).”

On his favorite scene: “My favorite scene throughout the whole movie is actually when my character is introduced. The way they filmed the scene and just how it was presented was funny. I’m excited for people to see that scene because it is a funny entrance.”

On being part of the High School Musical stories: “It was amazing being a part of it. When I first auditioned for the role, I didn’t know it was Sharpay’s story. To find out that it was, and because the High School Musical franchise was so popular, was kind of cool. I didn’t even know Ashley was in the movie, either. All I knew about the movie was that it involved the girl with lots of pink and dogs. They didn’t tell me until after I booked the role.”

On the craziest thing that happened while filming: “The strangest thing was definitely the earthquake. It was the first earthquake in about 30 years in Toronto. We were in the hotel and didn’t know what was happening.”

On his favorite characters: “I really like Sharpay’s character. It’s a fun, out there part. I like Austin‘s character, Payton, a lot too. He’s a great down-to-earth guy that looks out for Sharpay.”
