Dakota Fanning: Prom Dress Shopping with CHOC Patients

Dakota Fanning sizes a cute pink prom dress up and down with Alexis Delacruz, a patient at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

The 17-year-old actress went through four racks stuffed with 100 BCBG Max Azria dresses and helped 35 teenage cancer patients and survivors pick their favorites for the hospital’s annual prom, WWD reports.

Emily Justiniano, was really excited to meet Dakota. “I got to meet Dakota Fanning, and she is so cool,” she shared.

Dakota will be headed over to London this summer to work on Now is Good, where she plays a leukemia sufferer. But right after, she’s headed to college!

“The school is allowing me to be flexible. I don’t want to stop working for four years,” Dakota dished.

This year, Dakota has put six new movies on her to-do list:
The Motel Life Feb
Mississippi Wild March start
Now is Good July start
Very Good Girls Sept start
Girls’ Night Out around end of 2011–I think
Furious Angel around end of 2011–I think

I believe she finished The Motel Life in Feb/early March. Mississippi Wild was supposed to start in late March, but I’ve read nothing to confirm that it did, in fact, start or that it’s finished or what. Anybody know anything about the status of Mississippi Wild?

Although expected, this is the first (that I’ve seen) seemingly direct confirmation that she will attend college this fall. (I think we’re expecting the NYU Gallatin individualized study program.) With the movie load she has, flexibility will surely be critical; I hope she can make it work. From what she’s said about her love of acting, four years of school with no acting might lead to an unhappy (even cranky?) Dakota. And, with Dakota working, her fans will be happier too: win-win.
