Emma Watson Likes Polite Guys; Good Looks Not Required

Emma Watson could probably have any guy she wanted — but would you be surprised to know that she’s not in it for the good looks?

The 21-year-old actress recently sat down with The Daily Record and opened up about what kind of guy will win her heart, finding her fashion niche and growing up as Hermione. Check it:

On the guys who catch her eye: “[He'll have] Kindness, good manners, intelligence, confidence … and someone who can make me laugh. Manners are important. The way I was brought up, my dad is very strict and very focused on that, so if I see anyone be rude to anyone else, it’s an immediate turnoff. I can’t bear it. I think being polite is quite key for me. Being kind and being aware of people around you is definitely a big one.”

On her fashion dos and don’ts growing up: “I used to cringe and regret some of the outfits but actually I’m quite proud now that I had fun with it and didn’t always look perfect. I’ve made mistakes but there’s a history, there’s an arc, there’s a learning curve. You can see that I made my own mistakes and learned from them and figured it all out for myself and I enjoyed it. For 12-year-old girls, they [perfect outfits] just don’t exist. You either buy a bridesmaid dress or you improvise.”

On growing out of Hermione and into Emma: “I probably started out more like her and got less like her. I’m very heady and intellectual and we’re very similar in that way – we’re very eager to please and need approval. Not wanting to break the rules was definitely who I was. But I guess I think I’m more of a rounded person than she is. She’s very focused on her academics and I think I’m more creative and have lots of other different interests, whereas she’s very focused on one area.”

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II opens July 15th.

Smart cookie. I think she’s a very much like Hermione though in a lot of ways, including the ones she mentioned.

lovely reply to the first question. it’s nice to see someone who is grounded and has a sense of awareness for the needs of others. bravo emma.

That’s what they all say…before going out with the good-looking douche because they know, they just know they can “change” him!

I’m the same way about the guys but unfortunitely Ems there’s not many men like that and yes she can get any man she wants. I don’t want her to end up with a bastered–no man is good enough for her in my opinion.

@Happy_Evil_Dude: Shut up she’s not like that. She’s different. And what’s wrong with helping a jerk turn good?

Emma just shows that she really is a role model to everyone especially to younger girls. She doesn’t deserve alcoholics or guys who just want to have fun and can take nothing seriously.

Sounds like her ultimate man is Robert Pattinson…She is describing Pattinson…she always has been.People who know her know how she feels about Rob—thats why that studio was putting them in that Dark Arc movie together…they all saw the chemistry between them—you could cut it with a knife…and why did the internet go crazy for that story?…because everyone could feel the truth about it and the vibe between them.

@Happy_Evil_Dude: tbh, if we think about the guys we know she has dated through pap shots, they arent really lookers lol. they also dont look similar either. so she actually seems like one of the few telling the truth.

Let’s get real here, look ALWAYS plays a role in what guys or girls you’re looking for, a huge role I might add. However, the old saying’s true, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”.
