The 14-year-old Shake It Up starlet jumped on the bandwagon for JJJ Book Club‘s National Book Week and dished out some awesome recommendations. Check them out:
What is your favorite book and why?
I read a book in 5th grade called “So B. It” by Sara Weeks. It was such a beautifully sad story to me and the main character was so strong. I really admired her for what she had to go through to discover more about herself and her family. I have never forgotten that book.
Why should everyone read it?
Everyone should read this book because it was so beautifully written and there is much to learn from the story. The main character goes on a search for her identity and I think young people can really relate to the theme of finding yourself.
What’s the first book you remember reading?
My mom and dad read to me all the time. I had all the Eric Carle books and I remember reading “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?”
Do you judge the book by its cover?
Sometimes I am guilty of doing that, but I try to read at least the first chapter before I decide if I like a book or not.
How do you feel about all the books being made into movies?
Sometimes I really like it when books are made into movies especially if I never had the chance or time to read the book. But if I read the book, I usually already have a mental movie that ran through my head as I was reading the book so I don’t necessarily want to see the movie. Sometimes after reading a really good book I will think to myself, “Wow, that would make a great movie!”
