As David Cameron’s grip shows signs of rapidly weakening, seemingly desperate distractions are being tried in order to make it look like the government still holds the moral high ground in UK.

It is no longer Dakota Fanning’s Oh, Lola! advertising for Marc Jacobs fragrance which is banned in the UK, under the auspices of authority by public morals watchdog Advertising Standards Agency (ASA). Now Marks and Spencer lingerie advertising has been banned too, as ASA now deems that women’s lingerie “objectifies women”.

Moral panics are almost always signs that something else in that society is going terribly wrong and they are almost always an attempt to provide distraction in order to conceal the real problem(s).
