Harry Potter: Long listed for Oscars & BAFTAs

Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint take a look back at their pint-sized selves in this new video from Harry Potter Quest.

Along with Tom Felton, and James and Oliver Phelps, the cast takes one final look back at the films that made them household names.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II has also been long-listed for quite a few honors at the 2012 BAFTAs (Supporting Actor, Outstanding British Film, Costume Design, Special Visual Effects, Original Music, Sound, Make Up & Hair, Cinematography, Production Design, Adapted Screenplay, and Editing) plus a and Visual Effects Oscar.

Crossing our fingers for some nods!

I hope all the cast and crew get some recognition for all the work they’ve put in- they definitely deserve it!

I hope of something for the Movie, but I think it might be really really to early for the Trio to get a Oscar. Rupert and Daniel did more Movies than Emma and I think it will never change, but I don’t think their Oscar Time is right now

A long listed is a long list and does not mean to much. If it wins a few awards good for it. But the pay off was for the series almost 8 billion in worldwide box office plus additional billions in video and online streaming rights. Awards dont really matter all that much except to the vain.

This must be pretty emotional for all of them. It’s incredible how they all literally grew and mature in these series of films. It’s going to be a lifetime classic for all the Harry Potter fans, book and movie alike. My family will always treasure the great cast who gave faces to the characters in the book. They’re lucky to be able to have that legacy to pass on to many generations, even perhaps their own children someday. Good luck on their future endeavors.

Fingers crossed!! I hope they get some recognition for all this amazing work!

I love Harry Potter as much as anyone, but lets get real people none of the performances were Oscar worthy and it wasn’t even the best Harry Potter movie let alone one of the best movies of the year. It’s a fun entertaining series that will live on for generations to come, but it doesn’t deserve a best picture or actor/actress Oscar.

Shelley I agree with you on so many points. I love love love the books, for me the harry potter series open the door to this magical world of reading for one, and it is magical. But most of the young cast doesn’t deserve any awards for their acting and neither does the director. First of all, the last book as so emotion, made me cry and laugh while the book probably made me laugh once and cry zero times, no even water in my eyes. After the 3rd movie the quality went down. Black dying wasnt sad, dumbledor’s death wasnt over emotional, everything emotion wise after wow was neutral. The ONLY good thing about these films is the art of the special effects which where so amazing. That’s why it gets rated so high, the special effects were phenomenal. You feel like it’s really happening most of the time, and for that they do deserve an award or many.
I just keep saying David Yates ruined the movies, since when would dumbledor be so mean to harry when he drew his name out of the goblet of fire? That was snape’s line idiot. UGH i just get so mad, I mean the final battle and the deaths didn’t even leave you with tears in your eyes or a heavy heart.

They will probably not win anything but it would be a great way to top off a great franchise!

None of the performances were nominated for an Oscar. The film, overall, deserves all the recognition it may receive, because the score, visual effects, production design, makeup, cinematography, direction, and screenplay has always been spectacular in the Potter films. It was by far the best fantasy film of the year.

I swear whenever I see remembrance things like this about Harry Potter it brings tears to my eyes. Just like the cast I grew up with Harry Potter as a constant and for it to be over really sucks.

  • emily

@Jamie – i agree with you so much. finally someone else who cares about how dumbledore was portrayed in the fourth film! since when is dumbledore an angry character?! in the book he calmly asks him did he put his name in the goblet of fire! and i agree dumbledores death in the film was not sad at all yet the book made me cry.. i really think the last film was terrible too, i realise not everyone cares about the accuracy of how it is in the books but i was so looking forward to seeing freds death scene which was devastating to read but seemed to be skimmed past in the film and not sad at all?! and voldemort dying wasnt made nearly enough of a big deal! none of it was. so disappointing.
