Taylor Swift -- Kids Choice Awards 2012

Taylor Swift accepts the silver blimp award from First Lady Michelle Obama during the 2012 Kids Choice Awards held at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon (March 31).

The 22-year-old singer was presented with the Big Help Award for her ongoing charitable work with multiple organizations.

“Every step of the way [Taylor] has always made it a point to give back,” Michelle said in her presentation speech (via Zap2it). “She’s supported childrens’ charities, she’s worked to combat bullying and given away books to schools and libraries all around the country. She’s given so much of her own money to victims of natural disasters here and around the world.”

FYI: Taylor wore a silver Maria Lucia Hohan to match her award with Nicholas Kirkwood heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

First of all I’m a big Taylor Swift fan. I believe she deserved this award more than anyone. What I want to know is why Nickelodeon had to go back to 2010 to get a presenter. Isn’t it customary to have the previous years winner present the new award. Last year, 2011, it was won by Justin Timberlake. Michelle Obama won it in 2010. Why skip a year. Was this a political move by the management of Nickelodeon to help the Obama’s tap into Taylor’s popularity and hopefully boost the poll numbers for Barack Obama. I’m not saying that it is, but it does make me wonder.
