Shailene Woodley Joins 'The Spectacular Now'

Shailene Woodley has committed to star in The Spectacular Now, Variety reports.

Four years in the making, the 20-year-old actress will star as a teenage girl who convinces an alcoholic high school senior that his philosophy of living only for the moment may not be all it’s cracked up to be.

The pic is based on the Tim Tharp novel of the same name and will be directed by James Ponsoldt.

Once upon a time, Thomas McDonell was attached to star as the senior.

Shailene is pictured at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival Jury lunch held at the Tribeca Grill Loft in New York City on Thursday (April 19).
