Aimee Teegarden: 'Beautiful Wave' Out Now & New Oceana PSA!

Check out this cool new pic of Aimee Teegarden swimming with the Sea Lions!

The 22-year-old actress traveled up the coast of Southern California, from La Jolla to Santa Barbara Island, filming a PSA for Oceana to raise awareness about the need to protect the oceans’ hidden treasures, its special habitats.

“It’s amazing that hidden treasures like this exist all over the ocean – you just have to look for them. It’s really upsetting to think about an awesome place like the sea lion rookery being destroyed by destructive fishing, pollution, or anything else harmful,” Aimee shared. “This experience made it clear that we need to identify these unique and important areas in the ocean and do whatever we can to save them. I love that Oceana finds the special places like this and then fights to protect them.”

Aimee showed off her surfing abilities to share her love for the ocean, and she also free dove with sea lion pups in a hidden kelp forest, just 40 miles offshore of Los Angeles. This special place that Aimee visited acts as a sea lion rookery – a natural safe haven where sea lion pups can grow up.

Speaking of surfing…click inside to read about Aimee‘s new movie, Beautiful Wave!

Aimee stars as introspective teen Nicole, who is sent from her home in New York City to sunny Santa Cruz to spend her vacation with her estranged grandmother Sue (Patricia Richardson).

Upon her arrival, Nicole meets a group of locals who work at her grandmother’s surf shop. After encountering a mysterious vintage truck and special map left behind by the grandfather (Lance Henriksen) she never met, Nicole and her new friends set out on a road trip to find the elusive “untouched” surf spot off the Baja coast.

As Nicole’s journey unfolds, she learns how to finally let go of her fears and her past and discovers much more than she ever imagined she would about herself and her family – including an incredible secret hidden among the beautiful waves.

Out on DVD now, Beautiful Wave also worked close with marine biologist J. Nichols to raise awareness and support for sea turtle conservation efforts around the world through SEE Turtles, a non-profit conservation tourism project of The Ocean Foundation.
