Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons.
After the disappearance of her mother, Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers was just announced as the newest addition to the cast — as Valentine Morgernstern, Variety reports.
Directed by Harald Zwart, the flick is expected to debut in August 2013.

@db23: To call this 6-book series a “Harry Potter fanfiction” is extreme and inaccurate. Unlike Fifty Shades of Grey, the TMI series is not based on and nearly identical to her fanfiction.
She wrote a fanfiction on Draco Malfoy, which in no way shape or form is anything like the mortal instruments series. While the series does have a few similarities to hp, there are numerous books published that harry potter also has similarities to.
