Missy Franklin: 'I Love My Bronze Medal'
Missy Franklin laughs it up with Jay Leno during a taping of The Tonight Show in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (August 15).
The 17-year-old Olympic swimmer spoke up about her lonely bronze medal and trying to decide just where to go to college.
“It was my first Olympic medal. I absolutely love it,” she said of her bronze medal. “I feel like it gets lonely. Everyone always leaves it out. Four golds, but my little bronze is always there and everyone just jumps right over it.”
Missy also chatted about still wanting to swim in college, even though she’s already a pro.
“It’s a very difficult decision, but swimming in college has always been something I’ve wanted to do,” she said. “I love being a part of a team. It’s one of my favorite things about swimming. A lot of people think about it as an individual sport but there is such a big team aspect behind it that’s absolutely incredible…And those are friends that you have for the rest of your life.”
