Carly Rae Jepsen stops by for a chat on Ellen before performing her new single, “This Kiss,” on Thursday afternoon (September 18).

“It’s pretty surreal,” the 26-year-old musician told Ellen before her performance of the crowds she’s been seeing on her stops around the world. “There were actually 300,000 people in Mexico. I was Justin Bieber‘s special guest for the night. I was kind of overwhelmed, because it’s 300,000 people but the coolest part was that they were singing the song back to me.”

She added about people all over singing the words to her hit song, “I remember going to concerts when I was little and that happening. I remember being mad, like, I can’t even hear her [the musician singing]. But it was cool at the same time, they [the concert goers] know all of the lines. How amazing would that feel?”
