Lauren Conrad glams up for our impromptu photo shoot during her book signing event at Barnes & Noble on Monday night (October 22) in Santa Monica, Calif.
JJJ had the opportunity to speak with the 26-year-old author just before her signing for “Starstuck” and “Lauren Conrad Beauty” started and found out all about her writing process. Check it:
On her writing process: “Well these novels, because they’re part of a series, they’re all outlined before I even start. I have to kind of decide what’s going to happen in this story in the beginning, middle and the end. It’s not set in stone, so I can go back and change it. So this book ["Starstuck"], I basically knew how it was going to end before I had even started writing which was nice. It’s almost like you break it down, you have the book outlined, then you outline every chapter, from there you get to write chapters one by one. Especially when there’s multiple voices, you have to skip around and make sure you are not doing 2 in a row.”
On writing on computer versus paper: “Oh, computer. I can’t imagine doing paper, that would drive me crazy. Think about writing a novel, you would have a lot of paper to organize.”
On the most difficult scene to write in “Starstruck”: “Most difficult, I don’t know, that’s a good question. I can’t think of one that I struggled with. You know what, I get really uncomfortable writing any sort of romantic scene, because I just want to be like, ‘and they kissed,’ but you have to be a little more detailed (laughs). Any sort of hookup scene I get uncomfortable doing it.”
