Tom Holland: Palm Springs Film Festival 2013

Tom Holland cozies up to co-star Naomi Watts during the 2013 Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala held at the Palm Springs Convention Center on Saturday night (January 5) in Palm Springs, Calif.

The 16-year-old actor took the stage during the ceremony to present Naomi with the Desert Palm Achievement Award – Actress for her work in their film, The Impossible.

“He starts out as the typical sort of teenager, and then when the tsunami actually happens and he sees how injured his mom is, he grows up a lot,” Tom told THR recently of his character Lucas. “He literally goes from one extreme to the other. To be an actor and to have to play that diversity was very exciting. And also quite scary and challenging.”

The movie follows a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of one of the worst natural catastrophes — the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami — of our time.
