'Glee Project' Star Matheus Fernandes Auditions For 'American Idol' (Video)

A familiar face showed up to audition for American Idol in Los Angeles!

Matheus Fernandes appeared on the January 30th episode of the singing competition where he took on Sam Cooke‘s “A Change Is Gonna Come” for the judges.

But what they didn’t know was that Matthew was actually a contestant on the first season of Oxygen’s The Glee Project where he placed eighth. Remember him?!

The 21-year-old singer blew Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj away with his voice.

“We’re looking for a unique special person and you fit that bill,” Nicki told him, as he started to tear up.

Watch Matheus‘ audition below to find out if he made it to Hollywood!

He is a LIAR. He said, “This is my first time playing with a live band,” during Hollywood week. NOT TRUE. He sang with a live band a couple of times when he was on Glee Project. Full of BS. He just feels sorry for himself.

@Molly: YES! Such a liar. And for what?! His performance was depressing anyways.

A very insecure person, a liar, and probably an illegal alien! How did he stay in US after seeing several doctors for his height? BS!!

So glad about this result. He struck me as phony and self pitying on the glee project. Couldnt believe Fox featured him on AI as though he were some kid who just sang inI the shower! How could he dream of claiming he’d never sung with a band when he was seen several times on TV doing it? Everything he did on AI was phony, kissup and nauseating, that just removed any doubt. Everybody is entitled to compassion, especially those with disadvantages, but i hope he is now at the end of road with this pity card route to a career.

He is a talented guy. Wish he would not play the pity card. Also a little background checking from the producers would be nice.I saw him on Glee and was surprised he was allowed on this one. Could it not qualify as an automatic disqualification if the producers found out he was on Glee Project?
