Check out JustJaredJr‘s exclusive interview with Coco Jones inside and 30+ pics…
Have you been to the top of the Empire State Building before?
Coco Jones: “I have, I came last year with a bunch of other Disney artists.”
You’ve recently been compared to a “Young Beyonce” – is that like the ultimate compliment for you?
CJ: “I’m pretty sure that is the highest compliment ever! I’m really glad to be compared to somebody as powerful, and such a great performer, and such a hard worker. When I’m doing this I’m always serious about my craft and working really hard, so I’m glad to be acknowledged as somebody who works hard just like her.”
What’s your favorite song off of your album Made Of?
CJ: “I couldn’t say! I love ‘Made Of’ just because of the message behind the song, but ‘Holla at the DJ’ was my first single… they all have some really special memories, so I couldn’t say.”
Do you write your own music?
CJ: “I do! I co-wrote a lot of the album that’ll be coming out this Summer, but I never turn down a good song!”
What’s your song writing process like?
CJ: “It really depends. Sometimes you start from scratch where there’s just nothing, and then build a track around who you are, and lyrics around who you are. Sometimes it’s just a song and you write words to that, sometimes you already have the concept and pick a song to go with it. So, it changes.”
If you could tour with anyone, who would it be?
If you could work with any other artist – whether it be recording, writing, or producing – who would it be?
Who inspires you as an artist?
CJ: “People that inspire me are people that just always stay true to who they are, like in this business and through their career and through everything that they’ve been through with their life experiences, they always stay true to who they are and never change. Jennifer Hudson is one just off the top of my head.
Do you prefer acting over singing, or vice versa?
CJ: “If I never started singing I never would have acted, so singing I know like the back of my hand. It’s the easiest for me to do. I love singing because I’m so familiar with it, but I also like the challenge of acting and going through those new experiences and going out of my comfort zone. But singing is like my family!”
Last but not least, what’s the most played song on your iPod?
