Patrick Chan Wins Gold at ISU World Skating Championships

Patrick Chan celebrates with Kazakhstan’s Denis Tan and Spain’s Javier Fernandez on the podium during the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships held at Budweiser Gardens on Friday evening (March 15) in London, Ontario, Canada.

The 22-year-old Team Canada skater finished first, 1.30 points ahead of Denis. This makes Patrick‘s third consecutive world championship.

“I’m sorry I didn’t get to do a good program. I wanted to do it so badly,” Patrick shared with the crowd after falling during his free skate. “I definitely was disappointed in myself. The moment wasn’t as good as it could be, nonetheless it was special.”

As for Team USA — Ross Miner and Max Aaron are heading to the Olympics! Be sure to be on the lookout for them both on JJJ!

Figure skating is a sport and activity in which individuals, duos, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. The four Olympic disciplines are men’s singles, ladies’ singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating and four skating. In senior-level competition, skaters generally perform two programs (short and long) which, depending on the discipline, may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals, and other elements or moves.’”
