Monique Coleman: We Day in Seattle!

Monique Coleman gets a high-five as she makes her way on stage during We Day 2013 on Wednesday afternoon (March 27) held at the KeyArena at Seattle Center in Seattle, Wash.

The former High School Musical actress and activist took over the youth spark stage for a bit before sitting back in the audience to hear speeches from Martin Luther King III and Spencer West, among others.

“The amazing @ddlovato joining #WeDay via @skype! This day just keeps getting better #freethechildren #youthspark,” Monique tweeted from the event.

She added, “#MartinSheen’s #WeDay message rivaled the greatest speeches of ALL TIME! Powerful, poignant, & empowering! He definitely ignited the room

An initiative of international charity Free The Children, We Day is the world’s largest youth empowerment event of its kind, created to ignite students’ passion to be active global citizens.

Students can’t buy a ticket to We Day; they earn it through service by making a commitment to take one local and one global action throughout the year as part of the We Act program. We Act supports students and educators with free educational resources, student-led campaigns and support materials to help turn the event’s inspiration into sustainable change.
