Candice Accola steps out for the Tick-Borne Disease Alliance Annual Benefit held at Chelsea Piers in New York City on Thursday night (May 2).
The Tick-Borne Disease Alliance (TBDA) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness, supporting initiatives and promoting advocacy to find a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. The organization honored key supporters and patients who have emerged as leaders in the fight against tick-borne diseases.
“After years of misdiagnosis, [my friend found out she had] Lyme Disease,” Candice told JJJ. “I never heard of this life-altering disease that is also one of the fastest-growing infectious diseases in America. I started watching the documentaries, talking with and her mother, and asking if there was anything I could do. I feel like when people get in the industry, there’s certain organizations they want to help, and I just couldn’t imagine myself being a part of anything that wasn’t personal or that would feel fabricated.”
