JustJaredJr.com Interview – Joey King

Just Jared Jr.: What was it like working with Channing Tatum?

Joey King: Channing Tatum is such a great guy, I love him. He’s such a playful person, and I’m so happy for him and his wife Jenna because they have a new baby and he’s gonna make such a great dad. He’s such a great action hero, and I loved working with him so much.

JJJ: Were you a big fan of Channing’s movies beforehand?

JK: Yeah, I’m a fan of Channing’s. I was really excited to work with him because I am a fan, but also because he’s just such a nice guy.

JJJ: You also got to work with Maggie Gyllenhaal! Tell us about that.

JK: Maggie is really sweet, and she actually has a daughter named Ramona so that was kind of interesting to find out.

JJJ: ‘White House Down’ is packed with some crazy action scenes. Did you do your own stunts?

JK: I usually do all of my own stunts. I don’t have that many stunts in White House Down, but when I did I did all of them.

JJJ: What’s your favorite memory from the ‘White House Down’ set?

JK: Everyone that I worked with. Everyone is always like, ‘What was the hardest thing? What was your favorite thing?’ The hardest thing was saying goodbye to everyone, and my favorite thing was making all the friends I have!

JJJ: What was your favorite scene to film?

JK: I don’t know! There’s so many fun scenes that I had to film and I just enjoyed all of them. Every scene!

JJJ: There are rumblings of an ‘Oz’ sequel – will be returning as China Girl?

JK: There’s talks of it, but there is nothing confirmed.

JJJ: Did you like doing the voice work for China Girl?

JK: I loved doing the voice work for China Girl! It was kind of cool, it was this new technology where they filmed my face and then attached my facial expressions onto my character. That was a really neat process.

JJJ: Did you actually get to work with the ‘Oz’ cast at all while recording?

JK: Definitely! I was just two feet away from them in my little booth sometimes. I was also on set a lot, and I made such great friends with James Franco, Zach Braff, and Mila Kunis. It was great!

JJJ: So what kind of movies do you like to watch in your free time?

JK: I like to watch all kind of different genres! I love comedy, I love drama, I love action. I’m just a big movie watcher, I love movies!

JJJ: Name some of your most recent favorites for us.

JK: I love Silver Linings Playbook, it’s great. And who can’t get enough of 21 Jump Street?

JJJ: Do you ever get starstruck? Examples?

JK: Yes! I have gotten starstruck before! Last time I got starstruck was probably when I met Ken Jeong. He’s from my favorite television show Community. I was so excited to meet him I almost started crying!
