Kaitlyn Dever Opens Up About Summer Movie Roles

Kaitlyn Dever has not one, but two summer flicks coming out soon – The Spectacular Now and Short Term 12!

The 16-year-old actress recently opened up about her upcoming gigs in a new interview.

“When I first read that script, I knew it was going to be pretty tough,” she told Teen Vogue about her role in Short Term 12. “It really took focus and concentration, but I love playing characters that require me to be a different person. In real life I’m so happy, and my character was so depressed. It’s definitely a dark film, but it’s got romance and comedy. The first time I watched it with an audience, I looked over next to me, and some guy’s sitting there crying. And I look at him again a few minutes later, and he’s laughing. It was really cool.”

As for what’s next for her, Kaitlyn told the mag, “I just finished shooting Laggies with Keira Knightley and Chlo� Moretz. I play Chlo�‘s best friend Misty, who’s kind of a party girl and likes to live in the moment. My wardrobe was the best. I had these giant MC Hammer pants that were camouflage, worn with a crop top, a red leather jacket, and hot pink Doc Martens. I got to have all these colors in my hair, too. My character was so cool. I was like, “I just want to be Misty! Why am I not like this?”
