'The Originals' Recap: Marcel's History with the Original Family is Revealed

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!

Rebekah (Claire Holt) finally joined the family in New Orleans during tonight’s (October 8) “House of the Rising Sun” episode of The Originals!

She quickly found out that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) daggered poor Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and came face-to-face with Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) for the first time.

We also got a glimpse back at how Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) came to know Klaus and how he fell in love with his sister!

Rebekah blows into town, immediately killing six of Marcel’s vamps who get in her way. What an entrance! As a result, Marcel starts turning more people. Klaus compels one of them, unbeknownst to Marcel to weaken his army. We find out that Klaus once saved Marcel from a rough life and even named him! He and Rebekah later fell in love and as expected, Klaus was not happy about that. In fact, he daggered her for 52 years!

But the real reason Klaus hates Marcel now is because he abandoned him during the time Mikael ran them out of the Quarter. In present day, Klaus continues to (fake) befriend him, even setting him up on a date with Cammie (Leah Pipes).

Meanwhile, Rebekah is on a mission to find Elijah and threatens Sophie (Daniella Pineda) to use a locator spell. But that doesn’t work very well considering Hayley and Sophie are still linked. We also find out that the reason the witches won’t just run off is because they use ancestral magic, which requires the power of their ancestors.

Speaking of Hayley, Rebekah warms up to her a bit over the course of the episode and tries to talk some sense into Klaus about the baby. In turn, Hayley hands over two stakes she found. Hayley nearly resorts to drinking wolfsbane to put an end to the pregnancy, but Rebekah swoops in to comfort her. Hayley and Klaus finally have an honest conversation too! Well, after he chokes her in anger.

When Rebekah tries to retrieve her boxed brother, she meets Davina (Danielle Campbell), the very powerful witch who Marcel uses to keep tabs on the rest of the witches. Of course, Rebekah reports back to Klaus about his secret weapon, but sadly can’t tell him where Davina is because she wiped her memory.

Klaus swears that his intentions are to follow through on Elijah’s wishes for the family. Too bad Marcel is on a mission for Davina to figure out how to kill an Original. Uh oh!
