JustJaredJr.com Interview – Fifth Harmony
JustJaredJr: We’re so excited for the EP! How would describe it?
Ally: I would definitely describe it as a fun, upbeat album, but it also has different sounds. For example, one song is like a throwback 80s vibe and then there’s a serious power ballad. The topics are very fun, going out with your girls, and boy problems. So yeah, it’s a very eclectic EP.
JJJ: Do you guys have a favorite song?
Normani: I think collectively we all love “Who Are You,” which is the power ballad Ally was talking about.
JJJ: What’s it like knowing that you’re going on tour with Demi Lovato? Camila, we remember you covered “Skyscraper” in your room a while back before you met her.
Camila: I think it’s such a surreal experience. I even remember going on X Factor and singing in front of her. So from singing her song in my room to being a part of her opening act on her arena tour is mind-boggling. I can’t even put that into words.
JJJ: Speaking of the tour, what are some things you have to have on the road with you?
Ally: I have to have my stuffed animal Moose-Moose. He goes with me wherever I go and I’ve had him ever since elementary school.
Camila: Probably headphones or a book to read.
Dinah: I would definitely say a pillow because I get really sleepy. So a pillow and definitely my phone.
Normani: For me, it would definitely had to be a bunch of movies because I’m a movie person.
Lauren: My earbuds because I don’t know if I could function without them, as well as a book and my laptop.
JJJ: It was just announced that you guys would be performing at the pre-show to the American Music Awards. What was your reaction to that news?
Lauren: That was a surreal thing to be told because I’ve been watching the American Music Awards since I was little. It’s crazy to go from watching it on TV to be performing on the red carpet. It’s so amazing to see how much we’ve accomplished in such a small amount of time. It’s awesome to be able to have that opportunity. We’re really honored.
JJJ: Your Harmonizers are pretty hardcore. What are some of your most memorable encounters with them?
Dinah: When they make bracelets for us! It’s so cute how they take so much time to make something for us. I don’t even have the patience to do that! I mean, I would do it for Beyonce, but…yeah (laughs).
JJJ: Have any of you ever been starstuck?
Normani: We were on the red carpet of the VMA‘s and we saw Ciara from a distance. And she actually looked like Beyonce and in an interview, we started crying and everything. So technically we got starstruck by Beyonce but it wasn’t Beyonce (laughs).
JJJ: What’s a dating dealbreaker for you guys?
Ally: A dealbreaker would be if they were disrespectful. Because you have to have respect.
JJJ: We are obsessed with your “Lego House” cover. Are there any other songs you’re dying to cover?
Camila: I think it would be really cool if we did “Wrecking Ball.”
JJJ: This has been such a whirlwind of a year for you. What would you say is your biggest accomplishment to-date?
Ally: One of the biggest accomplishments this year would definitely be putting out the EP because we were able to get our own music, message, and sound out there. And not a lot of people can say that. We’ve been working really hard and that’s what we dreamed of, even before we auditioned for the X Factor. And now we’re able to do that. So we’re really grateful for the experience, and the support and love that so many people have given us. Our Harmonizers are amazing.
