'The Originals' Recap: Marcel Meets Hayley & Faces Off with Klaus

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!

Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) finally figured out that he and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) were not on the same side during tonight’s (November 5) episode of The Originals.

His suspicions were confirmed when he paid a visit to his imprisoned friend Thierry, and came face-to-face with the pregnant werewolf herself, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin).

Meanwhile, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) continued to protect Hayley and deal with the witches, as Rebekah made plans to leave the Quarter for good.

We start off the episode with a nice bonding moment as Klaus reads a rather fitting poem called “A Poison Tree by William Blake, while Elijah enjoys a bloody good meal that Rebekah is forced to clean up. (You can’t ruin a vintage rug, you know.)

Agnes goes after Sophie (Daniella Pineda), who is still linked to Hayley, in order to get rid of the baby she considers evil. She injects her with something that makes your temperature rise, effectively killing the unborn. But once the Originals learn of this, they are determined to go after Agnes and the witches. Not to mention, she’s also the person who drove Cammie’s (Leah Pipes) brother Sean to murder all those people.

Soon, Hayley starts to feel ill, so the only obvious solution (to Sophie, anyway) is to throw her into the pool to cool her down. It’s the perfect opportunity for Elijah to swoop in and make our hearts swoon, just as Davina breaks the linking spell. Sophie then pleads with Elijah not to kill Agnes, the only elder witch left and the only one who can complete the harvest. He promises to keep not let Klaus kill her, but ends up killing her himself.

Meanwhile, Marcel’s nightwalkers start clueing him into things, particularly that some of them have been compelled and Klaus has been lying about where he lives.

With Elijah out of the coffin, Rebekah feels it’s time to leave town, so she makes the rounds saying her goodbyes. Of course, her conversation with Marcel turns into a sexy romp for old times sake! It doesn’t last long though, as he refuses to leave town with her. He has some unfinished business, after all.

Cammie comes to the realization that Klaus must have compelled her to not feel anything for her brother’s death, which infuriates her. So when he runs to tell her that the witch who put the hex on Sean is now dead, she slaps him!

In the end, Marcel pays a visit to the Mikaelson mansion to confront Klaus, but he meets Hayley instead. When Elijah returns, he finds her missing!
