Sophie Nélisse: 'The Book Thief' Screening at Museum of Tolerance

Sophie Nelisse arrives with a smile for The Book Thief special screening held at the Simon Wisenthal Center’s Museum of Tolerance on Saturday afternoon (November 2nd) in Los Angeles.

The 13-year-old actress was joined by producers Ken Blancato and Karen Rosenfelt, director Brian Percival, co-star Geoffrey Rush and author Markus Zusak.

“I saw Monsieur Lazhar which Sophie shot when she was ten,” Geoffrey shared with Collider. “That film was comparably tough material for those kids.”

He added, “I just felt that I’d never seen anyone of that age have such a natural, beautiful rapport with a lens and be able to delve into such a level of emotional credibility and subtlety and so effortless, with a kind of gracefulness and a charisma on screen that’s not showy and not something to decorate the character, just a natural energy that radiates.”

The Book Thief opens November 15th.
