Skylar Astin: 'There's Nothing Like Performing On Stage'

Skylar Astin covers the music section of Bello Mag‘s latest issue.

The 26-year-old actor chatted with the glossy about his new gig in TBS’ Ground Floor and maybe heading back to the stage. Check it:

On Ground Floor: “The script was very in on the joke of him being a little bit flawed and sensitive beyond his seemingly perfect exterior, as far as his clothes being all tailored [and] his hair being perfectly kept. We start to watch him break down as well. Bill Lawrence really attracted me to the script because he created shows like Scrubs, Cougar Town and Spin City. This guy, his writing holds up, and it will hold up for as long as TV will be around, and I want to be in his world because it’s fun.”

On his character: “Brody is kind of a ‘master of the universe’-in-training; he has everything in place. It seems like he was a way with people. But when he meets Jenny – his love interest – and the other people on the ground floor where she works, you start to see him unravel a little bit, and it opens him up and exposes a little bit of his flaws, just like some relationships can do. It’s fun to watch him struggle to see how the other half lives. There’s this pull between his top floor lifestyle with his boss, and his love affair with someone who works on the ground floor of his building.”

On his stage dreams: “What’s cool about doing this TV show is that it’s in front of a live audience, so I do get that rush. But nothing’s like doing it on the platform of theater and doing it all together really – no stops, no cuts. So I think that a theater return is inevitable, and I’m hopeful for one.”
