Meryl Davis & Charlie White Break Another Record for Ice Dance Short Program at Sochi Olympics

Meryl Davis and Charlie White celebrate after taking the top spot during the Figure Skating Ice Dance Short Dance at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics held at Iceberg Skating Palace on Sunday night (February 16) in Sochi, Russia.

The Team USA duo topped their best score of 75.98 (during the team event earlier in the week) with a 78.89.

“We were just in our zone, so we could go out and skate like that. It felt awesome. When we were going out, we said, ‘Let’s do it for each other’,” Charlie shared after their skate.

Team USA’s other teams Madison Chock and Evan Bates and bro/sis duo Maia and Alex Shibutani placed 8th and 9th, respectively.

“Congrats to everyone who skated tonight. This is the Olympics! Really well-skated event. Looking forward to bringing it tomorrow! #Sochi2014,” Alex tweeted.

Canada’s teams Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje and Alexandra Paul and Mitchell Islam are in the 2nd, 7th, and 18th positions.

All of the teams will skate tomorrow for the free dance. Can’t wait!
