Gracie Gold, Adelina Sotnikova, Yuna Kim & Patrick Chan: Figure Skating Exhibition Gala at Sochi Olympics!

Gracie Gold flies high into the air during the Figure Skating Exhibition Gala at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics held at Iceberg Skating Palace on Saturday night (February 22) in Sochi, Russia.

The 18-year-old figure skater, who placed fourth overall in the ladie’s competition, skated alongside medalists Adelina Sotnikova, Yuna Kim and Carolina Kostner as well as Canada’s Patrick Chan, who picked up the silver medal in the men’s and team competitions.

“Thanks for the memories Sochi! I’ve had the time of my life,” Gracie wrote on Twitter ahead of the closing ceremonies after the gala.

A few days before the gala, Patrick was spotted at McDonald’s Cheers to Sochi Kiosk in the Athlete Village to read good luck messages sent from fans.

Kim Yuna was completey robbed. The only defense is that the Russian had an extra jump then her, yet, noone is looking at the short program because that it self was controversial. Yuna’s short program was much more difficult than Adelina’s. Also, Mao Asada skated a clean free-skate with an extra jump then Adelina + a triple axle, yet, she still scored lower than Adelina. Technical BS is what I see…

Thanks for the pictures though!!! By the way, I don’t want to take anything away from Adelina who skated well but she was lucky she had her country and the judges rooting for her. She had nothing to do with the BS scoring system…

Its obvious that the ladies figure skating competition was fixed. The other Russian figure skater, Juliya had 27 3+ GOEs, whereas Yuna had 13 and Kostner had 12. That means Juliya had 3 more 3+ GOEs then both Yuna and Kostner combined! Yuna is known for her textbook jumps and Kostner is a skilled veteran. Both Yuna and Kostner skated both their routines near flawlessly, yet their combined number of 3+ GOE scores could not beat that of one single Russian skater who fell twice!

How did they manage this? The leader of the three man technical panel, Alexander Lakernik, was Vice President of the Russian Skating Federation. The technical panel “makes all the crucial decisions about the difficulty levels of a skater’s spins and whether jumps are under-rotated or downgraded, among other things” Add to that Judge Yuri Balkov, who was previously suspended for corruption in a previous Olympics, and Judge Alla Shekhovtseva, who is married to the Director of Russian Figure Skating, and it all starts to make sense . . .
