The 21-year-old singer, who now goes by just MAX, will appear on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Veronica Mars.

“I’ve always wanted to write my own kind of dance song, and when we went down this road of finding all these criminal metaphors, ‘this is a stick up,’ ‘put your hands up,’ and ‘pose for your mug shot,’ I loved how it was shaping up,” MAX told RyanSeacrest.com. “That’s sort of how ‘Mug Shot’ became ‘Mug Shot.’ The song for me is really about giving over to the music and having a great time and not caring what anybody thinks.”
