Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 Team USA Medal Count: How Did We Do?

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics are officially over, with a beautiful closing ceremonies on Sunday night (February 23), just a week ahead of the Paralympic Games.

So how did Team USA do? The country came in second, to host country Russia, with a total 28 medals — nine gold, seven silver and twelve bronze.

  • Alpine Skiing (five: Ted Ligety, Mikaela Shiffrin, Andrew Weibrecht, Bode Miller, Julia Mancuso)
  • Bobsled (four: Elana Meyers and Lauryn Williams, Jamie Greubel and Aja Evans; plus Steven Holcomb‘s team double medaled in men’s two-man and four-man events)
  • Figure Skating (two: Meryl Davis and Charlie White, Team Competition)
  • Freestyle Ski (seven: Maddie Bowman, Joss Christensen, David Wise, Gus Kenworthy, Devin Logan, Nick Goepper, Hannah Kearney)
  • Hockey (one: Women’s)
  • Luge (one: Erin Hamlin)
  • Short Track (one: Men’s 5000m Relay JR Celski, Eduardo Alvarez, Jordan Malone and Christopher Creveling)
  • Skeleton (two: Noelle Pikus-Pace, Matt Antoine)
  • Snowboarding (five: Kaitlyn Farrington, Sage Kotsenberg, Jamie Anderson, Alex Deibold, Kelly Clark)
