Aimee Teegarden: Is Fashion Really That Different From 2004?

Aimee Teegarden graces the Beauty cover for Bello mag’s March 2014 issue.

The 24-year-old actress chatted all about her new CW show, Star-Crossed, with the mag including her character, fashion and more. Check it:

On Emery: “I feel like Emery is very naïve, especially being sort of segregated for part of her life in a hospital. And I’ve lived a very extraordinary, beautiful, crazy existence, so I feel like I’ve got more street smarts to some degree. And I don’t have any intergalactic romances going on that I know of. Also, she’s just going into high school at sixteen, and I graduated when I was fifteen, so that’s a BIG difference. Yeah, I don’t know. It’s hard to compare my life to hers. I surf and rock climb and do all kinds of weird bizarre crafty things. Oh, we both love crafting though. She was very involved with scrapbooking [in the hospital].”

On the appeal of the show: “I was really into the idea of doing a show that’s sci-fi. And it’s a love story, but not just a love story. There are so many other things going on; there’s action, there’s high school, there’s the idea of blossoming and figuring out who you are. I had a concept meeting with the producers to sort of discuss what they were thinking in terms of texture and feel and layers and visuals for the show. They really won me over, so I had a meeting with the writer, got to know her a little bit better, and we moved on to casting.”

On the fashion of the series: “Okay, so it’s 2014 right now and ten years ago it was 2004, and is the fashion really that different? Even in 1994, which is twenty years ago, is it that different? That was a big conversation we had at the start of this project. How far are we going to take this? The concept was thrown around of the weird, shiny, plastic materials. But one, it’s so uncomfortable, and two, it’s just not realistic. It’s playing that line of…how far do we take it and also keeping it real and grounded where people recognize everything.”
