Jessica Brown-Findlay Talks 'Jamaica Inn': 'The Gothic Side Excited Me'

Jessica Brown-Findlay wears open-toed sandals while heading out of MediaCityUk after her appearance on BBC Breakfast in London, England on Thursday afternoon (April 17).

The 24-year-old actress chatted up her new BBC mini-series, Jamaica Inn.

“The gothic side of Jamaica Inn excited me. I’ve always loved things like ‘Wuthering Heights’ and ‘Jane Eyre’ where you see the darkness of how people react in really forbidding landscapes,” she recently shared with Telegraph.

Jessica added, “There is an incestuousness to the story. Joss wants to protect her deep down, but he’s also a sexual threat. Mary has to show him she’s no pushover and he sort of respects that. Ultimately she holds up a mirror to him, makes him see who he really is….I wasn’t looking for anything fluffy. So often you read a script and the women are just sitting there reading a book or doing a tapestry. But these women go out and do something. There is a fearlessness to them.”
