We’re just a few months away from The Maze Runner hitting theaters in September.
Actress Kaya Scodelario recently chatted with Collider.com about the flick and opened up about being the only girl in the cast, the books and more. Check it:
On the excitement surrounding the film: “I tried to go into it treating it like any other job which I think is what you have to do. Iām really lucky itās a big Hollywood film and everyone really cares about it. Everyone wants it to be made because they want it to be a good story. Theyāve put a lot of time and effort into it. It doesnāt feel as though itās just here for the sake of doing another young adult film.”
On working with Dylan as Thomas: “I love Dylan. Heās the cutest thing ever. Heās so funny and sweet. Heās like my little brother. Heās very cool. Itās an interesting relationship between them. Itās very cool. Thereās no romantic link. Theyāre two souls who feel a connection to one another but theyāre so focused on trying to work out why theyāre in this place and why they donāt have any memories and who put them there which is right. Thatās what they would be feeling. They wouldnāt suddenly be like ‘I love you.’ Theyāre very much focused on the story in hand and in trying to work out why these kids have been put into this situation. And itās great working with him. Heās got so much energy. Heās so much fun. I really love him. Heās a dude.”
On how much of the book series she’s read: “Iāve read the first book. Iām holding off reading the second and third book because I donāt want to know what happens. I think itās great to be able to into something completely fresh and experience it. Weāre so lucky to be filming on location. We camped out the first week here and all of us were like: āOh God, this is terrifying!ā The sound of nature and the snakes and spiders is really intimidating! Iām from London; Iām not used to that at all! You can feel the environment straight away; I didnāt feel like I needed to research anything which is good.”
On Teresa’s introduction in the film: “That was so cool! They gave me a load of tomatoes and rocks and I looked over and all the boys were there and Iām like: āIām going to hit all of you!ā And I started doing it and afterwards they were like: āDid you have more people up there?ā I was like: āNo, that was me!ā I looked at the boys and they had tomatoes all over their faces. I loved shooting that scene. They actually re-wrote that. Originally there wasnāt any of that, she kind of just appears and they wanted to give her a really strong sort of āHere I am.ā And it is very cool and a lot of fun to shoot.”
