Shailene Woodley Wants to Stop Being Compared to Jennifer Lawrence

Shailene Woodley Wants to Stop Being Compared to Jennifer Lawrence

Shailene Woodley and her gal pal Brie Larson pose together on the cover of New York Magazine’s latest issue, on newsstands now.

Here is what the ladies, who worked together in The Spectacular Now, had to share with the mag:

Shailene on the Jennifer Lawrence comparisons: “As women, we are constantly told that we need to compare ourselves to a girl in school, to our co-workers, to the images in a magazine. How is the world going to advance if we’re always comparing ourselves to others? I admire Jennifer Lawrence, but she’s everyone’s favorite person to compare me to. Is it because we both have short hair and a vagina? I see us as separate individuals. And that’s important. As women, our insecurities are based on all these comparisons. And that creates distress.”

Brie on being friends with Shailene: “When Shai and I met each other, it was boom! We understood each other instantly. We’re the lighthouse for each other: the beam that stays focused and guides you home.”

Shailene on being friends with Brie: “Together, we are able to refine our ideas. In the past, we would talk about how people told us that if we wanted ‘success,’ we’d have to dress a certain way, act a certain way. Brie and I always felt different, and, suddenly, when we met, that was okay. In fact, it was great.”

Shailene is really admirable. Unlike so many Holywood girls. And I’m glad that she is friemds with Brie. Like JLaw, they empower women.

They are both beautiful women. I’ve read the article about Brie and Shai in New York mag, and they’re really exceptional. Too smart and too opinionated. And very confident of themselves. Without false pretenses. And unmindufl of what crap others say about them.

I realize wish that me and Brie Larson could be hang sometime.

    Jennifer Lawrence is overrated.

Or she could have just said it’s a compliment. The comparison is because Jennifer is at the top of her profession and they are in the same age group. Overthinking a simple answer.
