Pairs Skaters Caydee Denney & John Coughlin Sitting Out Upcoming Competition Season

If it’s not a split, it’s an injury — another pairs figure skating team is sitting out the 2014-15 season.

US Figure Skating reports that Caydee Denney and John Coughlin, who won bronze at the U.S. National Figure Skating Championships earlier this year, will sit out on the upcoming season as Caydee nurses an ankle injury.

“After a lot of therapy, I am excited to take the next step of getting back on the ice beginning with performing in shows and eventually strengthening back to a competitive level,” Caydee, 21, shared.

Just before leaving for the 2014 World Championships in late March, Caydee sustained a right ankle injury in practice. Thankfully, John is not going anywhere.

“I am happy to be by Caydee‘s side during her recovery as she was so supportive of me during my time dealing with injury,” he added.
